stays on your device
your presets, boards, templates, and unit preference are stored in your browser's local storage. they are never sent to us, unless you choose to submit a template to the community library — see below. clearing your browser data deletes them, and we cannot recover them — you can save a copy from the backup page.
what we store
if you create an account, we store your email address and a hash of your password. we never see your password itself.
if you submit a device template to the community library, we store that template and the account that submitted it.
signing in sets a session cookie in your browser so you stay signed in. it holds no personal data beyond the session itself, and signing out clears it.
services we use
- supabase — hosts the database and handles accounts and sign-in.
- vercel — hosts the site and processes requests to it.
- plausible — privacy-friendly analytics. no cookies, no cross-site tracking. alongside page views we record which features get used — saving a preset, creating a board — with the device or brand involved where it is one we already list publicly. we do not send your presets, boards or devices, the names you give them, or what you type into search.
- sentry — collects a crash report when something in the app breaks: the error, the code path that produced it, the page you were on, and your browser version. we strip your ip address, and the names you gave your own devices, presets and boards, before the report is sent. reports are kept for 30 days.
- cloudflare — turnstile checks that sign-in and sign-up come from a person rather than a bot.
your rights
you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it. write to hello@knobnotes.com and we will act within 30 days.
deleting your account does not touch anything in your browser's local storage — that is yours, and only you can clear it.
